As soon as Amalickiah gains control of the Kingdom, he begins to inspire the hearts of the people against the Nephites. As Amalikiah gains increasing power through fraud and deceit, Moroni inspires his people to be faithful to the Lord and strengthens his armies so they can defend themselves against the Lamanites.
Moroni is shown to be a determined defender of freedom. He is a mighty man of God and is compared to Alma the younger and the sons of Mosiah.
The Lamanites come to war against the Nephites in battles that last many years. Alma ~48:17~
