Alma has finished his record and hands the plates over to his son Helaman who continues recording the affairs of the Nephites. Alma verifies that Helaman believes all he has been taught and then prophesies powerfully of the destruction of the Nephite civilization because of unbelief.
Alma is then translated. The Church is re-established in the land but dissension grows in the church as the people become prideful.
In this chapter we learn that Alma was translated.....taken up by the spirit or buried by the hand of the Lord, even as Moses. (Alma 45:19) Joseph Smith said that Alma was translated because his body was needed for a future mission.
In the Book of Mormon we read that both the Apostle John and the Prophet Moses were translated though these events are not mentioned in the Bible, other ancient documents support the Book of Mormon. (Alma 45:10)
