Favorite Holliday Appetizer / Bacon Wrapped Chestnuts
1 can whole chestnuts cut into half
1 pd bacon strips cut into 1/4 pieces
1/2 cup catsup
1/2 cup brown sugar
Wrap bacon strip around chestnut and secure with a toothpick.
Place in un-greased baking dish and bake for 45 minutes @325 or until bacon is cooked.
Mix catsup and sugar, transfer baked chestnuts to a plate and drain grease from baking dish.
Dip chestnuts in sugar mixture and return to baking dish. Bake an additional 20 minutes.
Serve warm
*You can cut the last 20 minutes in half by heating the sauce until the sugar is melted before
dipping. Also, you can cook the chestnuts ahead and then add the sauce to bake just before
serving.
